Windows 11 Overview Windows 11 version 24H2, also known as Windows 11 2024 Update, is now available through Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and Windows Update for Business. Today marks the beginning of 36 months of support for the Enterprise and Education editions of Windows 11 version 24H2. We recommend that you start a targeted rollout in your organization now to ensure that your apps, devices, and infrastructure are working as expected in the new release. Windows 11 version 24H2 includes all the features and capabilities delivered as part of Windows 11’s continuous innovation, now enabled by default. Key Windows 11 Features Improvements to Windows Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) policies and new automatic account management feature Personal Data Encryption (PDE), which protects familiar Windows folders (Documents, Desktop, and Pictures) with user-authenticated encryption App Control for Business (formerly Windows Defender Application Control) to help protect your digital property from malicious code Windows Protected Printing Mode, which eliminates the need to use third-party software installers for Morpia-certified printers Local Security Authority (LSA) protection to help protect against the theft of sensitive information and login credentials Wi-Fi 7 support Bluetooth® LE audio support for assistive devices New controls to help manage which apps have access to a list of nearby Wi-Fi networks Windows kernel rust support for SHA-3 In Windows 11 version 24H2, we also made a number of changes to the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol. These include changes to firewall rules, support for NTLM blocking, dialect management, alternate network port connections, SMB over QUIC (an alternative to TCP and RDMA), and changes to SMB signing and encryption.
